Tastings in school can be a fun way to introduce students to nutrient dense foods and help them make healthier choices both in the school cafeteria and at home.
EatMoveGrow is pleased to be providing funding for a pilot fresh fruit and vegetable taste testing experience for 850 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders in Catahoula and Concordia parishes. A fresh vegetable is delivered to classrooms on Tuesdays and a fresh fruit is delivered on Thursdays. To help promote student engagement, a classroom poster and promotional sticker for each student highlighting the vegetable/fruit "superhero" of the day accompany each taste test. Additionally, a two-side student activity sheet is provided for each fruit and vegetable. The project has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm. Stay tuned for some student and teacher feedback coming soon!
